VE Day Memorial Unveiling

In conjunction with Leadenham’s VE-Day celebrations, The Leadenham Military History Club, Leadenham Village Hall, Leadenham Parish Council and North Kesteven District Council collaborated on the siting and unveiling of memorials to the former RFC/RAF Leadenham aerodrome.

A plaque, formerly placed on Pottergate, was restored and re-sited, together with a memorial from the Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust and a further explanatory plaque, on the north wall of the Village Hall.

The memorials were unveiled by Group Capt “Harry” Harrision, Deputy Commandant of RAF College Cranwell. Our thanks to him for taking the time.

Kirsteen Arnold provided suitable pipe music, and David and Helen Wallis brought their WW2 Jeep for some authentic period detail.
